This was not an easy decision, and it's not something we took lightly AT ALL.

Live classes and workshops as they've existed on the RLT app are ending September 30th. The app is being phased out too. I know this is huge news, and the rest of this blog will be me doing my best to try and walk you through the why, what's ending, what's continuing, and whats happening next. ‍

Why This Is Happening

Instagram banned every account we had this year — business, personal, every backup — and just like that, we lost our biggest platform overnight. Those accounts were how people found us, how we grew, how we stayed visible. It was our main way of reaching students, promoting workshops and weekly classes, and keeping all our offerings in one place. ‍

We never wanted to depend so heavily on a platform that censors the pole and sex worker community — and most marginalized communities — as much as IG does. But the reality is that around 90% of pole dancers use IG as their primary platform to connect with the greater pole community worldwide. This has its pros and its cons: it's how RLT was able to reach so many more people than I ever imagined possible when we started this business in July 2024, and it's also a big part of why Redd was able to build the reach she has — opening doors for teaching, performing, and other opportunities.‍ ‍

After we lost the @reddlighttherapy account in early June, our revenue dropped by over 40%. Almost overnight, we couldn't reach new students, couldn't promote weekly classes or special offerings effectively, and we couldn't support our instructors' own promo needs.

On top of that: the booking platform is a major recurring cost, alongside paying our instructor team. We wanted instructors and we wanted to pay them well — and we did, paying over $200,000+ back to our sex-worker staff in just two years of business. But we've never wanted to compromise what we pay our staff, and we've never wanted to raise prices on students either. When it came down to paying instructors less or charging students more, we chose neither. More than once, that's meant Redd personally covering instructor paychecks out of her own pocket — money from tour, money from the club — just to make sure everyone got paid.

The math hasn't been sustainable for a while, and losing Instagram this year hit us harder than we expected. Fighting to get it back has taken time, money, and energy I don't have an endless supply of, especially while out on tour and stretched thinner than I've ever been. I've been trying to make it work for months, and I can't keep doing that while also running live classes the way they deserve to be run.

Unfortunately, this means we have to change the business model, for now, to keep the community alive and sustainable.

What's Ending September 30th

• Community Circle w/ Gemini — 2PM EST on 9/12 and 9/26

• Backstage w/ Redd — 2PM EST on 9/21 (SW only)

(Community Circle and Backstage themselves are NOT ending — just this format, through the app. More below.)

What's Staying: ‍

• RLT Social Chat (WhatsApp)— not going anywhere. This is probably where we'll post updates first, including links to join free offerings going forward, so join if you haven't.

• YouTube — (and other social media) stays active and will continue pushing out resources

• Monthly emails — we'll keep sending reminders and freebies on the 1st of each month

• Free Community Events — continuing Community Circle & Backstage in some shape or form. We're still working out the logistics, but they're not disappearing!!!

• Workshops + Special Offerings — still happening, still fun, still with the option to join live.

• Redd's Repository— expanding from what it's been into a full à la carte archive on the website: mini tutorials, full-length classes, prompts, panels, webinars, and a range of prices so it stays as accessible as possible. Over time we're hoping to bring content from the core team onto the site à la carte too, so you can keep getting variety of instruction!!

Getting Your Class Recordings

If you've booked classes with us, you have two options:

1. Wait for us — we'll email you a PDF with links to all your booked class recordings within 14 days of 9/30.

   1. (MAKE SURE THE EMAIL ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR APP PROFILE IS CORRECT)

2. Do it yourself now — open all your recording links on the app and save them into a playlist on YouTube, so you don't have to wait on us!

The Bigger Picture‍:

This isn't the end of RLT, AT ALL, but it is a pivot. As I shift and start pouring into my own cup more — as a performer, dancer, educator, and community builder — the community gets to reap the benefits of that too. Things are changing, but the community and family we've built together is not going anywhere. Our focus is to keep the community sustainable for generations beyond just the one we are in now.

My (and RLTs ) priority has always been to promote sex-worker-focused instruction, intention, and community, and we hope this shift is going to bring an even more SW-forward lens to RLT and the community going forward.

We don’t know exactly what the future holds, but we trust this shift leads to bigger and better things — for us, and for the RLT babes!!

What You Need to Do:

📩 Make sure you're signed up for our email list / your email is correct before 9/30 — this is how you'll stay in the loop going forward. Your email currently lives in the app's CRM, and after 9/30, we'll manually move everyone over to whatever we end up using going forward.
